Accommodation
kultur_21.jpg We normally place our volunteers in local host-families. This provides these families with a regular income - we always pay above the market rate - and this enables them to afford additional benefits, such as extended education for their children or better access to healthcare. Safety and Back-up

Your well-being is paramount. We have full-time, paid and trained staff in every destination. It is their job to ensure that you are looked after and that your placement is running as it should. They are available for general advice and help, and are contactable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This is an important part of the service ARA offers you. Your safety and security is our prime concern - so we have many procedures and systems to ensure you have the support you need to enjoy your placement with peace of mind.

Security

We avoid regions where there is likely to be political or social unrest. We keep in close touch with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and with our embassies and high commissions in Ghana.

Pre-Departure Advice

Once you've been accepted on to our projects you'll receive insurance and visa details and lots of advice on what to take in terms of kit and for safe travel to Ghana. Our highly experienced Country Desk Officers will contact you once you have applied and are always available to give advice and answer any questions you may have - both before you go and while you are away.

Placement Timing

Since all internships are custom designed, it can take considerable time to secure suitable placements, arrange phone interviews, insure organizations completely understand their role as a placement organization, and that they have a defined project or set workload for the duration of the internship.

Because of this necessary lead-time, we require applications to be submitted at least 12 weeks prior to the program start date. The actual lead-time to source internships can vary from two weeks to 12 weeks, or more depending on a variety of factors for each applicant.
